She Geek Critique – Join the Academy

In 2007, the comic book world was introduced to the dysfunctional family of heroes known as The Umbrella Academy. Written by Gerard Way (from the band My Chemical Romance) and Brazilian artist Gabriel Bá, it follows the story of seven powered children who were adopted and trained to save the world. The Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite, the first six-issue volume, won the 2008 Eisner Award for Best Limited Series. She Geek Critique – Is What It Is

These days, there’s no shortage of movie adaptations of books and comics. She Geek Critique – The Big 4… Oh!

Geek Watch One turned four years old this month – our first issue was officially released on January 20, 2015. (I purposely have not added a link for it because there are some things that maybe should not be revisited!) It’s pretty amazing that we’ve made it this far, especially when you consider that “casual” podcasts are lucky to make it one year.  Continue reading She Geek Critique – The Big 4… Oh!

She Geek Critique – Broken Glass

Last weekend, the final installment of the M. Night Shyamalan series that began with Unbreakable was released. Glass features all the main players of the other two movies, with them all finally meeting and having the big confrontation that audiences have been anticipating for years. Unlike many sequels, Glass is not simply a new adventure featuring the same characters, but the finale to a three-part story, a true trilogy.  Continue reading She Geek Critique – Broken Glass
