Comics Cosmos – A Comic for Readers

OK, yes, all comics are for readers at some level. But the soon-to-be-published The Author’s Apprentice (currently on kickstarter), takes the concept a little more literally. With art by Czech artist Chechula and a story by Jessi Eichberger, this story of a young girl and a mysterious library is for those wanting a little more lit in their comics.

Beginning life as a webcomic, Apprentice is being offered for the first time in print.  The creators intend to self-publish this tale of “living books, escaped characters, and a bumbling vampire” as a bound, soft cover book. Not only will there be the original four chapters from the web comic, but an additional 14 mini comics contributed by other illustrators to expand the story and history of the library.

You can find more details, and some samples of the fantastic art, on the kickstarter page. For only $10 you can get a PDF copy of the comic and $30 gets you the PDF and bound soft cover edition. Higher pledge levels have some fantastic additions, including art prints, stickers, posters… there’s even a hand-knitted plushie available! The campaign runs until February 5.
