The Gamer Geek Blog – Fixing the Leaks

Blog-GGHey Geeksters!

So E3 is coming up soonish, and while we’re all waiting with baited breath for the big publishers to tell what games they swear they are making – and realize at the end of the press confrences that everything is going to be pushed back and still come out broken and buggy (unless you’re Nintendo) – let’s take a step back and talk about something I hate now.

Before E3 even begins, half the games will more than likely be leaked, there will be 101 rumors and maybe 3 will be right, Reddit and Neogaf will be full of people trying to “predict” things, and the newest thing is people streaming the events on twitch… but that last one is ok – I see that more as sharing your reaction with people who like the same thing you do and that’s fine. What I have slowly grown to hate is all the leaks that happen a day or two before the show and literally take all the surprise and excitement out of the show.

Now I know that is a very unpopular opinion, but I miss the days where an event would happen and not knowing what was going to be shown was fun and, my god, when they gave a release date they stuck by it and missed it by a month, maybe two. I want to go back to those days where not knowing things was exciting…. and I want Kingdom Hearts 3 and Zelda Wiiu already! Development hell shouldn’t be a thing, but here we are waiting 10+ years for Kingdom Hearts and 2 for Zelda Wiiu, which they swear is still coming out for the Wiiu and not NX. But at this rate they might as well release it as a duel release and let people pick which version they want.
