Hey Geeksters!

Sorry I missed last week, school got really intense before spring break so yeah sorry about that. But I’m back this week for more complaining about things out of my control, namely more Fire Emblem. 

So looking around on the internet I saw that the new Fire Emblem game had come out. Checking the reviews I stumbled on an interesting video of all the English voice work of the females from the original Japanese and, yeah, now I understand why everyone was so mad at the localization team. They should be fired or just out right disbanded and removed from the job. I understand it’s their job to make changes to the games so they are understandable to other parts of the world like changing riceballs to hamburgers. While dumb, that makes sense. But giving voice actors any type of direction so they sound believable is a totally different thing. I know directing is a hard thing to do, but it shouldn’t be so hard that you tell the actor to just ad lib and things will be ok.

While I’m on the topic of voice acting, I think companies should stop grabbing the same 15-20 people to do VO work. Tara Strong is nice and has an amazing range, but there is a huge pool of talent out there looking for work and about 80% of them are on Youtube making music. Nate Sharp and Amanda Lee are the first to pop in my head because they have that range most people don’t, but they stick to the same type of music because people complain when someone they like tries something new. I wish people would stop doing that and just let artist make the type of whatever they like to do.
