Irregular’s Intel – Late to the Party

I am LOVING Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition. For those who don’t know, it is a hack and slash fantasy RPG video game. There are several classes that you can play, based on your preference and personality. There’s the Barbarian, Demon Hunter, Monk, Wizard, Necromancer, Witch Doctor and Paladin. I chose the Monk, of course. Now, mind you, in the time that I bought this game I was trying to finish the Uncharted series, so I was little preoccupied. Oh, then there was Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Tekken 7. Let’s just say that I realized that if I was gonna fight, why not do it with style and in search of serenity (shout SERENITY NOW here).

So I spent a little time this past weekend refamiliarizing myself with the game and trying to get a grasp on the subtle nuances. Just because this is a hack and slasher doesn’t mean that it lacks finesse! I think the intellectual aspect to the game where you actually “build” your character is what is pulling me in the most. It is an opportunity to express yourself in a video game RPG in the most authentic way possible. You can add passive boosts that have an affect on your character’s actions that appear to also determine what is open for you down the road. It honestly makes for so much more than a button masher.

It is my hope to find a little more time to get into this game. Generally I don’t get too deep into video games because I have tons of other things going on, but this is pulling at my intellectual curiosity, so let’s see where this will take us. What’s the worse that could happen? I end up with a new fandom?
