I’m fresh from seeing Star Wars: The Force Awakens and I am buzzed and full of feels. But this isn’t a review of the movie. This is about a common theme through all of the Star Wars saga: the hero’s journey. We see it in Anakin’s story and Obi Wan’s, too. Most obviously we see it in Luke’s adventure, but there are so many more. The thing that I love the most is that it is presented in so many ways… as a story of redemption, as a cautionary tale, as the importance of heeding the call of that inner voice.

Episode VII does not disappoint, geeksters. We get slapped in the face with three examples and all are satisfying in different ways. The characters that come to mind for me will be obvious for you about halfway through the film, but you’ll be too engrossed in the story to care. As I am writing this I am realizing that if I go much deeper into this I can move into spoiler territory and I don’t want that. Suffice it to say that The Force Awakens did my geeky heart good and gave my geeky brain some food for thought!
