I’m starting to feel the anticipation that comes with getting ready for a con. I’m thinking about what I’m wearing, what panels I’m going to, what parties to hit… how can I squeeze a nap in? At any rate, it is the weekend before and things are real! There are comprehensive lists of needs and wants… what luggage am I taking, what big purchase will I allow myself or will I do a bunch of smaller ones? I’m constantly checking the app and barely paying attention at work. This is worse than vacation short timer mode! 

Then there’s reading material! I do have Marvel Unlimited on my phone, but what if I’m in the mood for something else? I’m currently reading Flash Gordon: Zeitgeist, so that HAS to go (if I don’t finish it beforehand). Maybe I’ll include an anthology? Yeah, I have the comic version of that, too. Don’t even ask about music… thank heaven for music apps! Then there’s snacks, road food, stuff for the room… I’m planning on making jerky… this is gonna be a full weekend!

But I love this rush. On the flip side, I get to see my brother and about 80,000 of my closest friends. This is Dragon*Con and there’s nothing else like it. From cosplay to filking, from Alt History to Anime, all of it is there for you to sample, enjoy and immerse yourself in. I’d go every year, if I could, but life doesn’t allow that, so I go when I can. It’s 5 days of geeky crazy and I love it. Maybe one day I’ll tell the story of how my first Dragon*Con changed my life?
