This week Geek Watch One records issue 89 at The Malted Meeple. It’s a number that doesn’t really carry much significance. What is significant, however, is the fact that it’s our two year anniversary. That’s right, somehow we have managed to continue recording this little podcast for two entire years! 

Even since a year ago we have grown as a show and a brand. We’re spreading our name wherever we can with blogs and swag and guest appearances on other podcasts. We now handle entertainment and panels for Con on the Cob and the ever-increasing number of Oddmalls throughout the year. We all even have our own additional podcasts with more focused geek interests.

One thing I have to keep reminding myself is that this is meant to be fun. That’s why we started doing this to begin with. But there are times when recording and writing and maintaining the website, etc., etc. and so forth feels more like a job that I’m not getting paid for. Plus, I am NOT a people person so I honestly don’t enjoy all the public stuff we do (obviously I lost the vote on GW1 participating in these things!). So that’s why I occasionally step back to take a breather. I want to have fun at cons, not see them as networking opportunities or places to get interviews for the show. I want to go to movies and not have to pay close attention to details so we can talk about it on the show. Basically, I don’t want to lose my love of all things geek while spreading that love around through various podcasts.

But we’ve managed to make it two years so far without calling it quits. So we’ll see how much longer we can make this thing last.
