Comics Cosmos – Manners Maketh Man

With the news this week that Netflix has purchased comic book company Millarworld (publisher of Kick-Ass, Wanted, Jupiter’s Legacy and more) and with Kingsman: The Golden Circle coming out in about a month, it seems a good time to have a post about The Secret Service, on which the Kingsman: The Secret Service movie is based. If you are familiar with Mark Millar’s work at all, whether in the comics or on the big screen, you know the potential levels of violence and general craziness to expect. But in most cases the plot is interesting and engaging, and the stories are well-written. The Secret Service is one of those cases.  Continue reading Comics Cosmos – Manners Maketh Man

Best Geeky Finds – Spin the Record Backwards to Learn Its History

And as the flames climbed high into the night,
To light the sacrificial rite
I saw Satan laughing with delight
The day the music died.      – Don McLean

Music influences our lives in many ways. It helps us deal with difficult moments, makes us think of memories, influences moods. It can change lives. The musicians behind the music change our lives. Irregular’s Intel – Take ’em to Church

Last week, some Marvel employees went out for milkshakes and decided to tweet a selfie… and the trolls lost their shit. They made comments about how these people were the reason that Marvel’s sales were going down and they needed to back off of the feminist agenda/SJW bandwagon and blah, blah, blah. I’ve been stewing over this for days now and I don’t want to give the trolls any more attention than they’ve already gotten. But I have a few things to say about this and I kinda feel like Tony Stark in Iron Man 3 when all of his armors are out, lined up and ready to take on the Extremis injected AIM soldiers. In other words, I’m about to take these basement trolls to church!  Continue reading Irregular’s Intel – Take ’em to Church

Playing Around – Storming the Castle

Back in 1986, Konami came out with the now classic action game for Nintendo called Castlevania. Set in the 1600s, players get to explore Dracula’s castle, with the ultimate goal of actually defeating Dracula. Along the way there are battles with Frankenstein’s monster, the Mummy, Medusa and more. The original game was followed by two sequels, plus a fourth game that retold the events of the first. The entire series has a lot of fans and now there’s an animated series to enjoy as well.  Continue reading Playing Around – Storming the Castle
