She Geek Critique – Passing It Along

For those who may not know, podcasting is a pretty friendly community. It’s something we noticed almost from the start. Podcasters are always willing to help out with tips, answer questions, even help with promotion. That openness and helpful nature is something that we have tried to continue as our podcasts have grown and expanded.

This past weekend at Oddmall in Akron, Geek Watch One had a table set up as usual (we are the official podcast of the con, after all). Sure, we use it for a bit of promotion, passing out stickers and buttons and telling people about the show. But we’re also there to let people know just what podcasting is about. We had a few people who are new to it asking us questions about getting an audience, promoting their shows and just some general how to. We even did a panel giving a rundown of the basics and how we do things.

It’s cool that we’re actually seen as a bit of a knowledge base now. We’re far from experts, but much like when we first started, the newbies are simply looking for guidance. And we’re happy to provide. So if you’re curious about any of the logistics of podcasting, feel free to drop us a line (email, twitter, Facebook… I’m the Web Goddess, after all). We’re all in this together, as they say, so we’ll help out however we can.
