Comics Cosmos – The World Awaits

If you’re a longtime comicbook fan, you know the name Mark Millar. His career in comics began in the 90s, working for a small British publisher before he moved to DC. Leaving DC in 2001 (just before his Superman: Red Son was published) Millar moved to Marvel, where he launched Ultimate X-Men and wrote one of Marvel’s biggest series, Civil War. Comics Cosmos – Kicking Ass Again

It was 10 years ago this month that the world was introduced to  Dave Lizewski and his superhero persona Kick-Ass in comicbook form. He was a teenager sick of crime who wanted to do something about it. Comics Cosmos – Manners Maketh Man

With the news this week that Netflix has purchased comic book company Millarworld (publisher of Kick-Ass, Wanted, Jupiter’s Legacy and more) and with Kingsman: The Golden Circle coming out in about a month, it seems a good time to have a post about The Secret Service, on which the Kingsman: The Secret Service movie is based. If you are familiar with Mark Millar’s work at all, whether in the comics or on the big screen, you know the potential levels of violence and general craziness to expect. Mark Millar’s Huck is a tale of a simple man with special gifts who wants to live a quiet life in a small town. He does a good deed every day for whoever is in need, but otherwise keeps to himself. His neighbors always know the deeds are his doing, but they keep things quiet as well, as a way to thank him.
