Playing Around – Dreamcasting Xbox

It’s been more than 15 years since Sega’s Dreamcast gaming console was first released in the US. It had a lot of exclusive games that, as popular as they were, have not been recreated on current platforms like Xbox or PlayStation. But coming this summer, the WinDCe10 emulator will let you play all of your favorite Dreamcast games on Xbox One.  Continue reading

Playing Around – An Epic Adventure

December 2015, we treated ourselves to a new gaming system. We had not had anything new since the Wii, so it was high time for an upgrade. We bounced between the Xbox One and PS4. Both had their pros and cons, but there was one factor that did it for me… the Uncharted series. I wasn’t interested in jumping on the Tomb Raider bandwagon, I wanted something fresh. From everything that I had heard over the past few years, Uncharted was it. Plus, they had just released Uncharted 4 and there was a collector’s pack with 1-3… so guess what I did?  Continue reading

Playing Around – It’s a Disney Afternoon

If you’re a child of the 90s (or have always loved Disney), you’ll remember the Disney Afternoon. It was a block of animated shows that included Duck Tales, Darkwing Duck, Tale Spin and Chip ‘n Dale’s Rescue Rangers. If you were into gaming, you might also remember that Capcom came out with Nintendo games for those shows too. Well they’re back, in the recently released The Disney Afternoon CollectionContinue reading

The Gamer Geek Blog – Because Reasons

GGBSo… um… yeah, I know I didn’t post a blog once over the past month and I have a very good reason for that – 16 reasons actually. Pokemon Sun and Moon came out this, well last, month and sold very, very well making $10 million in its first 10 days of being released worldwide. It was the highest preordered game that Gamestop has had in the last 5 years, so yeah, that’s saying something.  Continue reading

The Gamer Geek Blog – Announcing Nothing

GGBHey geeksters!

So two days ago Bravely Default turned four and to celebrate this Square Enix did something that Apple always does: announced an announcement. Now as someone who has to always be on the lookout for something to write about, this made me very mad and confused. They said they are going to be saying something soon, but what does that mean? Are you saying that you’re going to be making another game, trying something new entirely? Continue reading

The Gamer Geek Blog – Make Mine Music

GGBHey geeksters!

So I was on my college radio station last week, talking about video games of course, and something I didn’t notice until at least half way through the show was that they were playing music while we were talking. I found that rather odd until I realized that we take the music in most games for granted, which is sad because a lot of games have amazing soundtracks, like Xenoblade. Half of its soundtrack is orchestrated and the other half has a more robotic feel to represent the organic and robotic half of the game, which is an amazing concept for a Wii game.

The Gamer Geek Blog – Triple A Drought

GGBHey geeksters!

So after a few weeks of no real games coming out I realized that we are kinda in a drought for triple A games. I mean, Square was supposed to release Final Fantasy 15 tomorrow, but they pushed it back. And two weeks ago Shantae: Half-Genie Hero was supposed to arrive, but it got pushed back. Continue reading

The Gamer Geek Blog – Empty Pockets

GGBHey geeksters!

So the past few days have not gone well for my future wallet. It’s bad enough I started the year out saying that I’d only spend $200 on games. Then companies started to announce stuff and I got a few ideas for some videos down the line for my channel… and now I’m here, post-E3, post-Pax and post-TGS8 (Tokyo Game Show), seeing at least two things I want to buy from every show! Continue reading
