V-Yellow’s Comic Box – More of the Bat and Turtles

VernComicI finally got my issue #2 of the Batman/TMNT crossover comic in the mail Friday and I was able to read it over the weekend. This issue went more in depth with showing us how much respect the characters have for each other. This was a really fun read. On the first page of the book we see Michelangelo crashing thru a pizza shop in Gotham letting all the civilians know that there is a crazy guy dressed like a bat trying to kill them.

tmnt1It picks up from where we left off in the first book. The turtles are getting their butts handed to them by Batman. This is one of the things that makes Batman so awesome, with taking on four mutant ninja turtles he is just fighting them so he can understand their strategies and fighting styles. Just studying them and basically toying with them. Splinter must step in to stop the fight. He notices that Batman is far out of his sons’ league – they are nowhere near ready to go against someone like him – but he can also tell that he is not a bad man. He fights with honor and purpose just like the turtles do. Splinter throws down smoke power so they can leave the scene and get away from Batman. While the turtles were able to get away and regroup they stated discussing how Batman might not be their enemy but he’s also fighting the good fight. They also notice that Master Splinter is missing.

The next panels we see Bruce Wayne working with Lucius Fox in the Batcave working on finding information on these mutants are scanning Raphael’s sai for any information. Batman was able to take this away from him when they were fighting. Why does Raph always lose his weapons? Lucius and Bruce find out that the turtles are not from this world, let alone this universe. As they are discussing this Splinter is hiding in the shadows of the cave both gathering information on Batman and trying to understand how they got to Gotham.

tmnt2Meanwhile in Gotham, Penguin is making a weapons deal with the Shredder. Everything seems to be going well with these two villains until Penguin asks “Where’s the money?” Shredder replies “There is no money.” Penguin and his henchman are furious. With all the work they had to do to get these weapons and not get any money out of it? They are ready to kill him for that. This
just leads into one of the most awesome pictures I’ve ever seen with Shredder and the Foot Clan.

As the Foot Clan are taking out Penguin’s thugs, Shredder grabs Penguin by the collar and right before he delivers a deadly strike Penguin pleads that Shredder won’t know anything about Gotham. He’ll need someone to help him know the odds and ends of the city. Penguin basically just signed over his life to the Shredder until he was no use for him anymore. The last part of the book shows the turtles and Splinter traveling underground to the Batcave.

This is a really good comic book for any fan to pick up. It has its funny moment, awesome art, and amazing story line. I give this a 5/5. If you’re a fan of Batman’s world or the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles world I say you should start reading this mini series.
