Whatz Your Geek? – Big and Tall

Blog-WYGBecause my interviews have dried up I have decided to write about topics I find interesting. In the future I want to start a podcast about my findings. In this blog I dive into the different theories that surround Bigfoot, from weird to interesting. So let’s jump into the third dimension, take a ride on a UFO, chase after a 9 foot tall lemur, then go play with floating lights.

Some theories are that Sasquatch is an alien from a different dimension, that can blink in and out of time and space, that they can cloak themselves with the push of a button on their chest (that is why it so hard to see a 9 foot Wookie roaming the forest). I like the woods and when they are grown over you can’t see much but green. If you are quiet you can hide very easily. Some say they are telepathic, that they do “mind speak” as they call it. If I was in the woods and heard voices in my head and they weren’t my own, I would shit myself and seek medical help. Others like to give gifts to Bigfoot. Yes, let’s put bait out they can find, easy slow soft food that practically lays itself out on a plate for the big, fuzzy alien or a large predator. Whatever it is, I don’t think common sense is kicking very hard these days.

With technology getting more and more advanced, you would think we could find something. But I think we are just forgetting old memories and legends, the flicker that was once in the back of our minds. Whether it was campfire stories to keep children safe from the unknown that lurked in the dark or something that was once real, flesh and blood. We have lost our ability to survive in the dark, in the wilds of the world. In a way we have gotten smarter but with that, as a species, we have gotten dumber. Common sense no longer fuels us to survive. So for a predator we have become junk food, an easy meal handed over on a silver plate. Soft and squishy is what our species has become.

Or did Bigfoot come from space in a UFO? Getting left behind just like rats were left behind when they jumped ship. Could humans be the rats getting left behind after UFOs left earth? Some people when they see Bigfoot also report seeing UFOs. Are they related to each other or just so happen to be in the same area? Others report seeing strange lights in the forest at night hovering off the ground. Are the balls of light swamp gas or static electricity from earth’s plates moving against each other? No one really knows, they only speculate what they are. Some legends of the lights are of a female from one tribe in love with a neighboring tribe boy, a love that was forbidden. He was killed when their love was found out. The light is from the torch that the girl used to look for her lost love, forever.lemur

Another theory is that Sasquatch are a 9 foot lemur roaming the woods. I can see it, lemurs are scary creatures.

Others feel Bigfoot came from Gigantopithecus, which was an extinct genus of ape that existed from 9 millions years ago to as recent as 100 thousand years ago in what is now China, India and Vietnam. Which places Gigantopithecus in the same time frame and geographical location as several hominin species. The fossil record suggests that individuals of the species were the largest known apes that ever lived, standing up to 9.8 feet tall and weighing up to 1,190 lbs. The first Gigantopithecus remains described by an anthropologist were found in 1935 in an apothecary shop. Fossilized teeth and bones are often ground into powder and used in some branches of traditional Chinese medicine. Von Koenigswald named the theorized species Gigantopithecus. Since then, relatively few fossils of Gigantopithecus have been recovered. Aside from the molars recovered in Chinese traditional medicine shops, Liucheng Cave in Liuzhou, China, has produced numerous Gigantopithecus blacki teeth, as well as several jawbones. Other sites yielding significant finds were in Vietnam and India. These finds suggest that the range of Gigantopithecus was in southeast Asia.

giganteusIn 1955, 47 G. blacki teeth were found among a shipment of “dragon bones” (also called “oracle bones”) in China. Tracing these teeth to their source resulted in the recovery of more teeth and a rather complete large mandible. By 1958, three mandibles and more than 1,300 teeth had been recovered. Gigantopithecus remains have come from sites in Hubei, Guangxi, and Sichuan, from warehouses for Chinese medicinal products, as well as from cave deposits. Not all Chinese remains have been dated to the same time period, and the fossils in Hubei appear to be of a later date than elsewhere in China. The Hubei teeth are also larger.

I have just touched on some of the different theories. If you enjoy my new blog topics, please let me know.
