Whatz Your Geek? – Clint from Geekdig

VickyThis week we get to know fellow podcaster Clint Thiele.

What shall we call you?
Clint (a.k.a., Jedi).

What is your background, Jedi?
I am a machine support technician and podcaster from Chicago, IL. I launched in 1977, same year as the Atari 2600. I am host of the Geekdig Podcast, co-host of the Green Up Podcast, and have had the good fortune to guest on many awesome podcasts (especially Geek Watch One). Reigning Donkey Kong and Tetris champion. I love a good horror movie (and the occasional bad one). I’m a proud uncle of 5, which is my favorite thing in the world.

Whatz your geek?
Star Wars, video games.

How did you get into that?
My love of Star Wars and gaming share a mutual origin. I was born with bilateral club foot, and I had some reconstructive surgeries in my early years. Since I couldn’t run around, my friends and I would play Star Wars in my front yard. I’d sit in the window of our garden apartment, playing Luke Skywalker piloting his X-wing fighter while my friends re-enacted the land combat. I also had an Atari 2600, with the Star Wars and Empire Strikes back games. Star Wars and the games were my escape as a kid, and both loves only grew with time.

Favorite memory?
It’s not a single memory, but whenever my nephews and niece run up to me to give me a hug. Love is the greatest feeling in the world.

Anything else you like to tell us?
If I were to cosplay, I would be either Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin or Danny DeVito’s Penguin. Also, in video games where you choose your morality (like Fable, KOTOR, etc.), I can’t play the evil side without feeling really guilty.
