Whatz Your Geek? – Dani Judy from Ohio

VickyThis week I sat down and talked to Dani Judy. Let’s find out her geek!

VR: Tell us about yourself?
DJ: I’m an interpreter for the deaf at a local high school. I’m 40 years old, married with one daughter, 4 cats, and 2 parrots. I was born and raised in Canton, Ohio, but would love to move away from here. I am currently working on my Master’s degree in Social Studies Education.

VR: Whatz your geek?
DJ: My biggest obsession is probably Mystery Science Theater 3000. I even have a tattoo of the silhouette of Joel and the bots. I’m also a huge fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, and Angel. So, most of the Whedonverse stuff. I’m planning on getting a tattoo of Buffy as Rosie the Riveter, which brings two of my loves, Buffy and history, together. Lastly, I love How to Train Your Dragon. Last year I dressed up as Hiccup for Halloween. This past Halloween, I went as Toothless. I also recently adopted a black kitten and named her Toothless. I have other obsessions, but those are probably my biggest ones.

VR: Do you have a favorite memory?
DJ: This one was difficult for me. I have so many nice memories, it’s hard to narrow it down as my favorite. I guess my go to answer would have to be when I was little, my grandpa would play Disney tunes on the saxophone or organ for me and I would dance around him.

VR: Is there anything else you want to tell us?
DJ: I’m glad we are living in a world now where the idea of being a nerd, geek, or dork is no longer a bad thing. When I was younger, I would be teased for those things, but now it’s totally accepted. You can also find all kinds of great geek-things easier. They’re everywhere now. It’s really a great time to be a geek/dork/nerd.

Thank you Dani.
