Playing Around – Gotta Catch a Switch

Undoubtedly you’ve heard of Pokémon GO, the mobile game that kids and adults have gone crazy for over the past couple of years. Even if you don’t play it, there’s no missing at least some of the media reports about it. Well, this week, it was announced that Pokémon is expanding to the Nintendo Switch with two RPGs coming this November.

Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! will give players a chance to experience co-op, mobile integration and big-screen play for the first time with Pokémon’s traditional RPGs. These new games will focus primarily on the home of the original 151 pokémon, Kanto, and drew inspiration especially from the game Pokémon Yellow.

These games are intended to appeal to longtime fans as well as new players, with a more accessible experience. Features include a map showing wild pokémon so players can choose their encounters and drop-in co-op so friends can help players in battle. Players will also have the ability to  catch pokémon in the mobile Pokémon Go game and then transfer them to the Switch. To get a sneak peak, check out the Pokémon: Let’s Go trailer on YouTube.
