Best Geeky Finds – Get Some Goblin in Your Life

If you’ve read The Completely Inappropriate Tales of Gandersnitch the Goblin, then you know what type of stories and adventures to expect in this book. If you’ve ever met Gandersnitch the Goblin, not only do you know what type of adventures to expect, you’ve probably played a part in them.

The new collection of short stories about Gandersnitch, How Gandersnitch the Goblin ALMOST Saved Christmas: and Other Completely Inappropriate Tales, told by Gandersnitch and his manager Robert Turk, follows the first book of short stories, starting off with a doozy of a tale involving Santa, Gandersnitch, a daughter he never knew existed, the risk of losing Christmas forever… oh, and zombies. After last year’s debacle at Con on the Con between the two and a random potion underneath a chair that turned Santa into a troll, one can only assume the two haven’t always seen eye to eye. This would be untrue. Gandersnitch has just been on too many people’s naughty lists. He is really good about saving Christmas from holiday zombies however.

Meanwhile, Gandersnitch has more adventures to worry about, including a known-to-fail movie scheme with his friend Grubby in order to meet girls. Or better yet, tasked with the assignment to find Queen Titania’s husband, who has chosen to take his own vacation away from her, only for G to learn it may be an even bigger family dispute than he originally considered. How about a haunted hotel that tests its guests’ willingness to help under terrible conditions? Even when all the smoke alarms are blaring, Gandersnitch finds a way to save himself and/or others.

Personally, I enjoy Gandersnitch’s stories because I never know what to expect. Having read such modern fantasy as the Dresden files series, where the Fae queens make a regular appearance, I’ve grown accustomed to the Fae and their servants being evil and coldhearted. Yet for Gandersnith, Titania’s servant, the job is simply another day’s work and he’ll do the job how he wishes – no killing, and if it helps him, even better.

If you have read any other Gandersnitch stories, or met him in person, this collection will have you laughing on the floor. If you haven’t, this is an excellent introduction to the character. While they are not necessarily children’s bedtime stories, there’s nothing wrong with you reading them before bed.

You can find all of the Gandersnitch e-books on the kindle or get them in person from the goblin himself at Voodoo Carnival in Kentucky, Lexington Comic & Toy Con, Origins Game Fair, New York Faerie Festival, or at Oddmall this May.
