Comics Cosmos – Avengers Assemble, Dude!

It was disappointing when Hawkeye was cancelled earlier this year. Kate Bishop was doing a great job taking over the archery ass kicking from Clint Barton. She took super heroing seriously, yet there was still a lot of fun (and sarcasm). But Marvel is satisfying her fans with the new West Coast Avengers, which started its run last week.

This new version of the team features Kate in the lead, with an assist from Clint (claiming he’s “part time”), along with newbie Fuse, cosmically powerful America, mutant Kid Omega and the unpredictable Gwenpool. It’s an interesting combination of powers and personalities, not all of whom get along (especially with Kid Omega – he’s kind of a tool). But Kate is still the smart ass sure-shot we’ve come to know and love and the adventures are going to be just as strange as ever.

The first issue introduces the newly assembled team, as well as the fact that they’re being followed by a film crew for either a documentary or reality show (no one’s decided yet). But you have to make money somehow! Of course, nothing stays quiet on the coast, as the team faces land sharks and a giant Tigra for a first assignment. It’s an action-packed start to the series and definitely worth a try.
