Irregular’s Intel – Remembering a Personal Fave

A few weeks ago, my Sister From Another Mister and GW1 Senior West Coast Affairs Correspondent GothamGal attended a convention and had the pleasure of meeting and getting a pic with the one and only Chris Potter. Many remember him from shows such as Silk Stalkings, Queer As Folk and Guiding Light. But most probably recognize him as the voice of Gambit in the X-Men animated series from the 90s. That’s all well and good. Personally, and I am certain I can include GothamGal in this, we remember him as Peter Caine, the great grandson of Kwai Chang Caine from the TV classic Kung Fu. Peter’s show was Kung Fu: The Legend Continues

This show brought me so much joy… even now when I’m able to catch it, it still does. It chronicled the adventures of Peter and his father, the grandson of Kwai Chang Caine. Peter was a cop who had turned his back on the ways he  learned at the Shaolin Temple and his father found him after years of believing that he had died in an attack on the temple. As the show progressed the father learned to embrace modern civilization and Peter learned that his upbringing was not so out of touch. It made for an exciting series.

It is rare that a series has such an effect on me. Maybe it is because I was going through a similar journey with my father as well (no, we were not separated after the destruction of a Shaolin Temple). I was learning that my father and I were not so different. I guess what I am saying is that it looks like it is time for me to revisit an old friend.
