What are giants? Are they just really tall and we were small, or is there more to legends of giants? This week I dive into the legends of giants.

There are stories of fallen angels having sex with human females. That bred Nephilim offspring. It is said they dominated before the great flood. The bible even talks about giants as tall as 30 feet.

“When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the Lord said, “My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. The Lord saw how great man’s wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The Lord was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the Lord said, “I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them.” -Genesis 6:1-7 (NIV)

Giants have been in history and still are found today, as you can see below.

Robert Wadlow was the tallest man in history at 8’11.1″. He is often referred to as the Alton giant because he came from Alton, Illinois. He was born in 1918, the oldest of five children. He died at the age of 22 from an infection caused by a blister on his ankle, which he got while making a professional appearance at the National Forest Festival. At the time of his death he weighed 440 pounds and showed no signs of stopping growing. His coffin weighed half a ton and required 12 pallbearers to carry. He was buried in a vault of solid concrete as his family had fears that his body would be interfered with by curiosity seekers.

When you are short like me, everyone else are giants. So with that, height is just a matter of perspective.
