We’ve done it with our fandoms from the playground on. Who is faster, Flash or Superman? Who is the best fighter, Batman or Daredevil? Who is stronger, Hulk or Thor? And so on, and so on. We’ve seen these battles play out on our comic pages and, back in the day, Wizard Magazine would write out these elaborate scenarios to see who would best the other. But then, with the accessibility of the internet and our fruitful imaginations, things changed. 

So it was no longer about the fighting and the racing, it was about who wore it better and who needs an update. But then the game morphed and it became about who is the better wordsmith. Yes, I am talking about Epic Rap Battles of History! I don’t know what rock you have been living under if you have not at least HEARD about this YouTube phenomenon. If this is new to you, do yourself a favor, take a 5 minute break and watch Sir Issac Newton vs Bill Nye and come back.

AMIRITE?!?! Seriously, as you go through the site you get Batman vs Sherlock Holmes, Elvis vs Michael Jackson, TMNT vs Leonardo da Vinci, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo and so many more, it is such an awesome and beautiful time suck! If you know your science/history/engineering/business/geekdom it becomes even funnier! There’s something about watching Julia Child going all street that does the heart and soul some good!

So, there it is. All of the icons of intelligencia come to the place where all are equal, until the beat drops and then it is on! Oh, and don’t let untrue stories about historical figures be your basis for dissin’ because they will call you out and shut you down… I’m referencing Ivan the Terrible vs Alexander the Great (and later Catherine the Great)… check that out, too!!
