Irregular’s Intel – The Power of a Good Meal

Modern culture plans many events around food. From business meetings to store grand openings, there’s food to be had. That’s all fine and good, but what about those meals that come around every once in a while. Be it a birthday celebration or a chance reunion among friends, there are those rare occasion where the meal is beyond “good”. It’s the perfect storm of timing, the company, the atmosphere, and the food – all of it is sheer perfection. And you can never plan it, it just happens.

The beauty of those moments is that it isn’t about how much you pay, either. I STILL remember how good the burger was that I had at The Hollywood, just south of Memphis, TN (yeah, the very one mentioned in “Walking In Memphis”) with the same joy that I remember the porterhouse steak I had at a historic steakhouse in Akron, OH. The prices are vastly different, but the overall experience is still the same. Think back on the memorable meals that you have had, it was about everything. The price you paid for the meal didn’t guarantee that the meal would stay with you, but the quality was still the same.

What I’m saying is when those moments come along, recognize them when they happen and be grateful. Those meals can make a bad day good and a good day great. It can bring people closer together and give them a shared experience. Be present in those moments because that will help make the memories that much sweeter.
