Playing Around – A Pirate’s Life

A year ago, Ubisoft announced that there was an Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag spin-off game on the way. Based off of the pirate theme of the main game, it was going to be a standalone naval combat game. Well finally, after some delays, it looks like the game is on its way for release in 2019/20.

Skull & Bones is an open world game with multiple modes and ship styles, from long-range, cannon-packed dreadnoughts to quicker boats, involving huge pirate battles and some stealthy gaming. It takes place on the Indian Ocean, so players will need to contend not only with attacks, but also with how the wind and water affects tactics. Players will have the ability to consult a fortune teller about things like weather conditions and where other ships are positioned. And, of course, there’s a pirate town where all the basics go down like gathering a crew and customizing ships.

At this year’s E3, Ubisoft showed off a gameplay demo involving different tactics to use in an assault, like dawning disguises to sneak around instead of diving in head on. They also released a cinematic trailer for the game to show off the impressive graphics and combat. The exact release date will be announced once they have development more complete, but Skulls & Bones will be available for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.
