In the late 70s, a couple of supporting characters from Iron Fist comics, Misty Knight and Colleen Wing, were given a chance to team up as Daughters of the Dragon in an issue of Marvel Team-Up. Though well received, the duo remained supporting characters, carrying over to the Power Man and Iron Fist series. Comics Cosmos – Fall of the Secret Empire
The big two comic book companies love their events and the most recent from Marvel, Secret Empire, just came to an end. The 10-issue storyline followed Captain America’s allegiance to HYDRA, his reign as supreme global ruler, the “heroes” who sided with him and those who opposed his rule and fought back. In the end, as with all events, there was a resolution but not without some changes to the Marvel universe.
Comics Cosmos – A Very Kirby 100
This week would have marked the 100th birthday of comic book icon Jack Kirby. For those not as familiar with the history of comics, Kirby was not only an artist, writer and editor, but he created some of the most well-known characters and styles that are still seen in comics today. His first, and biggest, character creation (working with artist Joe Simon) was in 1940: Captain America. Over his career he wrote, drew and/or created dozens of heroes and worked for Marvel and DC, as well as doing freelance work.
