With the news this week that Netflix has purchased comic book company Millarworld (publisher of Kick-Ass, Wanted, Jupiter’s Legacy and more) and with Kingsman: The Golden Circle coming out in about a month, it seems a good time to have a post about The Secret Service, on which the Kingsman: The Secret Service movie is based. If you are familiar with Mark Millar’s work at all, whether in the comics or on the big screen, you know the potential levels of violence and general craziness to expect. Music influences our lives in many ways. It helps us deal with difficult moments, makes us think of memories, influences moods. It can change lives. The musicians behind the music change our lives. In 1959 when the plane carrying Buddy Holly, the Big Bopper, and Ritchie Valens crashed, the world wept as three musical legends were lost. The music died. If music influences our lives in such a way however, one wonders if something, or somebody, more influences them. Could this be where all the hidden messages in songs and records played backwards come from? Even more, are they influencing our legends to get to us? Comics Cosmos – An Extraordinary League
At Comic-Con International last weekend, it was announced that the fourth (and final) volume of The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen had been completed, though no release date has been set. Written by Alan Moore, with art by Kevin O’Neill, the series began in 1999 as a sort of Victorian Justice League, but with a pronounced literary bent.
