When I was in college, the big paranormal craze was vampires. It obviously wasn’t the first time this craze had happened, but once Twilight hit bookstores and theaters, they were everywhere. I love the classics, digging into the original Night of the Living Dead and Last Man on Earth, but sometimes you just need to shut off your brain and watch something stupid that has no redeeming value. Best Geeky Finds – Neeeeeviillle!!- A Look Back at The Omega Man (1971)
Long before The Walking Dead and The Lost Boys, there was The Omega Man. The movie tells the story of Robert Neville (Charlton Heston) who believes he is the last man on Earth. Three years prior a nuclear explosion occurred, wiping out a large portion of humanity. Those who did survive gradually changed, faces and hair becoming gray, irises becoming white and empty, and no longer could these people be in light. Driving throughout Los Angeles during the day, Neville is seeking out the group of affected known as “The Family.” Their leader, Matthias (Anthony Zerbe), has taunted Neville every day since realizing Neville was the sole person around who, in his opinion, was dead. Best Geeky Finds – Zombies, Zombies Everywhere: A Review of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.”
As beautifully stated in Jane Austen’s original masterpiece “Pride and Prejudice,” Seth Grahame-Smith explained the state of zombies in his parody piece. Not only did this reproduction spam a prequel and sequel novel (not written by him), but a feature film. In the film, “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” the zombie virus (brought to England by the French, as Mr. Bennett explains) has stricken London to the point that both an inner wall around London and an outer wall around England have been build, leaving a majority of the zombie hordes swarming the land in the middle—the in-between. This doesn’t stop the virus from spreading through London however. Thankfully Col. Darcy has arrived in London with his friend Mr. Bingley to investigate these occurrences.
