It’s been 10 years since The Witcher video game was released. It’s an RPG (based on a series of novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski) set in a medieval world. The main character is, not surprisingly, a Witcher, which is a monster hunter with supernatural powers. It’s been popular enough to not only get high ratings, but also two follow-up games. If you’re a child of the 80s or just enjoy the old school video games, you have definitely heard of Centipede. Created by Atari in 1980, this classic vertical fixed shooter was all about blasting the bugs that descended upon you. It was a bit of a button masher – all you had to do was move the little gnome back and forth across the bottom of the screen and keep pressing the button to shoot at things. Playing Around – Storming the Castle
Back in 1986, Konami came out with the now classic action game for Nintendo called Castlevania. Set in the 1600s, players get to explore Dracula’s castle, with the ultimate goal of actually defeating Dracula. Along the way there are battles with Frankenstein’s monster, the Mummy, Medusa and more. The original game was followed by two sequels, plus a fourth game that retold the events of the first.
