The Gamer Geek Blog – Wanted Dead or Alive

GamerGeekHey Geeksters!

This has been an interesting week for the world of gaming, and I’d like to touch u on a few things, the first of which is that Dead or Alive Extreme Beach Volleyball 3 will not be coming to the west in any way, shape or form. The quote they gave was: “We do not bring DOAX3 to the west and won’t have any plan change in the future.” This is a little annoying since the last DOA game came out in 2006 so a new addition would have been lovely, but easy come easy go.

In an interesting turn of events, the team that gave us the best mod of a Nintendo game has been shut down. Project M will not be receiving any further updates from here on out. While this is sad (for some) I can see why they would stop. Smash 4 is getting cloud later this month and more game balancing and with the roster being 50+ I can see why they shut down. If you want to download and play Project M you still can… you just have to mod your Wii.

For any and all Killer Instinct fans, Shadow Jago will finally be a real boy and will have his own moveset. After months of being a stronger skinned Jago, the KI community came together and raised $100k, so we have another character in the roster and he comes out this week.

Namco Bandai has, for all intents and purposes, given up on making new IPs. What they are doing is making sequels and their latest one is Naruto Shippuden Ultimate Ninja Storm 4, which is kinda neat and if you pre-order through Gamestop you get early access to 5 characters and a poster. Oh but here’s the kicker: Funko has joined with Gamestop and bundled an exclusive golden 3 inch Naruto Pop with the limited edition of the game. The Golden Naruto pop is by far one of the dumbest things they could have done from my point of view, but from a production stand point it’s smart. Make a bunch of pops and dip them in gold paint “everyone” can get one, everyone’s happy… but making a few thousand of four-tailed Naruto would be a lot cooler.

After a year and a half of waiting I finally get my game: Xenoblade Chronicles X (which I will get while I’m downloading Shadow Jago). Although many people are excited for this game I feel like something is being overlooked. About two weeks ago Nintendo said they would be stepping up their marketing to promote Xenoblade X more, and I haven’t seen a single real ad for it anywhere. It was trending on my Facebook but that was just the big name reviewers and Youtubers saying “yes the game is good and you should it buy because we said so” ad. I mean, even the new president of Nintendo was credited for knowing how to market games to the west better so the fact that the only “ads” I’ve seen are just reviews makes me feel like they forgot the we even exist.
