Irregular’s Intel – Animal Culture

I am an animal lover. I have 3 dogs and they are all important to me. Now, I’ve had many dogs over the years and they all seem to have fairly laid back personalities. But I am wondering if their personalities are as unique as humans? I mean we have differing types of jocks and princesses, nerds and Goths, so do they have that too?

Observing my dogs, they are three completely different personalities. Bernie is a Puggle mix and does not have much of a sweet tooth, loves meat and hates diabeetus. Memphis is a Pug/Chihuahua who is seriously uptight and likes to clap when he’s happy (I’ve witnessed this and I am not making this up, at all). Zoe is a Pug and is a princess with attitude from the east end of London (it fits, I swear). So these completely different personalities have managed to figure out how to tolerate each other, for the most part. But I have also noticed that each knows how to annoy the other too. But how would a dog show that he/she is a nerd? And if said dog did, would that dog get ostracized for it?

Now, I did have a dog that loved to dress up. His personality would change when he did, too. He would go from nice and friendly to mean and demanding… did he fancy himself a cosplayer? I don’t think so, but I could be wrong. For that matter… how would a dog geek out? Honestly it seems like I’m coming up with more questions than answers. But the next time you see your pet super happy over a toy, shoot a casual “nerd” their way and see how they respond… I kid, I kid… my dogs just cuddle me more when I do that!
