Irregular’s Intel – The Danger of Book Sales

Recently, I attended a library book sale. It wasn’t exactly my first rodeo, so I approached it with a somewhat jaded attitude. I wanted to act like I had “been there, done that”, which, honestly, I had.

This particular day was a “bag day”, which most library sales tend to have as a means to rid themselves of loads of books that might otherwise be leftover. You walk in and someone hands you a bag and encourages you to fill it up for a small price. So, I take the bag and walk in… and am blessed by the sight of so many books in a confined space! Suddenly the cool leaves me and I am trying to recall what books are on my want list and “Hey! That looks like a fun one!” and it just goes from there.

Honestly, it is the same with every book sale I go to – I don’t know why I try to kid myself that this time it will be different. I have a sickness and this place is a literary opium den. Considering the piles of unread books already at home, there’s no way that I can read everything that I picked up last weekend… or is there? Those “T2” books are looking pretty good right now.
