Irregular’s Intel – … for President

Blog-IIEverybody is getting all caught up in the Elephant and Donkey show. I say that it is time to get away from the crazy that is real life and let’s look at some what ifs. I’m going to try and be as objective as possible, but I can’t promise to follow through.

Tony Stark

What would a Tony Stark presidency look like? We already know that he has no problem making the hard choices, but he does not fully take into account what ALL of the consequences of his actions could be. He is too impressed with himself and his above genius intellect to listen to experience and sage advice, and that always makes for a bad combination.

Nick Fury

Fury is a military man and is familiar with the ravages of war. He also has no problem making the hard choices. Then again, Fury has no problem keeping key information from his most trusted advisers. His “need to know” policy would be frowned upon in a position where a degree of transparency is expected. Plus, his “dirty tricks gang” would always be in play.

Oliver Queen

Ollie is a huge advocate for the common man. He has little tolerance for social injustice and has a long history of fighting city hall to that point. He does have political experience, too. The only thing is that Ollie has a difficult time listening to points of view different from his own, but he will actively make sure that there is room at the table for everyone. I think a Queen presidency may be challenging, but good for the country as a whole.

Bruce Wayne

Bruce is a self-made man through and through. The fact that he comes from money means nothing. He would build it all up again if he somehow managed to lose it all. But Bruce is, at heart, a xenophobe and is highly paranoid. While this may prove to be acceptable traits in a costumed vigilante, you do not want these in your national leader. Plus, he operates on a “need to know” basis, too. Bruce Wayne would probably ax all of the social programs and enact mandatory government service of some type… and the powers of the Justice Department would be seriously beefed up. A Wayne presidency would be tumultuous.

Clark Kent

So many people see Clark Kent as a “big ‘ol boy scout” but he’s not. He has no problem regularly lying to his friends and loved ones. He also shows an inability to make the hard choices, which results in repeatedly putting the public in the same danger again and again. He claims to use his small town values to guide his actions, but he really is not morally strong enough to do what needs to be done. He would make a terrible president.

Steve Rogers

Steve Rogers is the original Captain America. He has been a soldier, artist, history teacher, and an adventurer. He has seen the US at its worst and at its best and is honest enough to call it likes he sees it. Although he loves his country, he knows that it is not perfect. But, that does not stop him from standing up for her without a second thought… for all Americans. Although, as I understand the character, he would not want to ever be president, I believe that he would be ideal. He knows what it means to be an American and that would guide his actions. I don’t see him being subject to any party, either.

Bruce Banner

We know that Bruce Banner is not political, at all. He is a quiet guy and tends to keep to himself. I believe that the presidency would be largely quiet and uneventful. Plus, the military budget would be cut… because if you made President Banner angry, he’d SMASH!!! Any country that was disrespectful to the US would get a visit from the Gamma irradiated Green Goliath!! Maybe not… I don’t know.

This is all in my head. I’m not preaching one party or another here, just wanting to turn the pressure down a little. What do think about my theories?
