Playing Around – Con on the Cob

This weekend, gamers and geeks of all kinds will converge on northeast Ohio for the celebration known as Con on the Cob. If you’re a regular listener of Geek Watch One, you’ve heard us talk about this many times. It’s a 4-day event that began more than a decade ago as a small gaming convention and has grown to encompass so much more!

CotC is not just a convention where you can meet other gamers and play the RPGs and tabletop games you love. It’s also where you can sit in on panels to learn things like making props for your cosplay, the importance of diversity in geekdom and how to develop your own games. And you can take part in demos and workshops to paint some miniatures, modify toys and create chainmail jewelry.  Plus you can express yourself and celebrate your fandoms through cosplay, even if you decide no to enter the cosplay contest (but you should!).

But wait… there’s more! CotC has a silent auction running all weekend that’s full of dozens of games, books and other geeky stuff to bid on. And then there’s the entertainment and debauchery! Lots of local singers and bands perform throughout the weekend, plus there are parties every night. Make sure you don’t miss the Geek Watch One Green Fairy Party on Friday night – it’s 21 and up, kicks off with a performance by 2D6 and we just happen to have the best snacks and drinks you’ll get all weekend!

If that all isn’t enough to entice you, check out the Con on the Cob website for even more details and the full schedule of events. Your badge gets you into everything, even if you can make it for only one day. Don’t miss your chance to get your geek on!
