She Geek Critique – The Big 4… Oh!

Geek Watch One turned four years old this month – our first issue was officially released on January 20, 2015. (I purposely have not added a link for it because there are some things that maybe should not be revisited!) It’s pretty amazing that we’ve made it this far, especially when you consider that “casual” podcasts are lucky to make it one year.

I’d like to be able to say it’s our drive and dedication that got us here. But, honestly, we’re just massive geeks who like to talk. And these days, there’s so much stuff to talk about! So why not just record it and share our thoughts with the world?! Admittedly, there are some weeks when the geek world is on the quiet side, but that’s when we feature a favorite show or arrange an interview or grab some friends to join us. Seriously, we’re never at much of a shortage for filling the time.

The cool thing about being involved in a long(ish) running podcast is being able to share with others. I’m not talking about the geeky opinions and news, but our knowledge. Each of our four hosts know enough to guide someone new to podcasting in the right direction, from the basics of equipment and software to how to gain an audience. And having a public presence allows us to reach beyond our audience at local conventions to spread the word about podcasting in general. It’s cool to be able to be an advocate for a means of communication.

So thanks to our listeners (and readers) for letting us have fun for the past four years. We have no plans to stop anytime soon. And remember, we’re always available to chat in person, on Twitter or Facebook, or via email (geekwatchone@gmail.com).
