Best Geeky Finds – Get Mortified

When I was kid I loved to draw. I was reminded many times that I couldn’t draw. That dream went away.

When I was a teenager I loved to write. I wasn’t told I could not write; which they probably should have done because my stuff was crap when I was 14. I could never get the knack of journaling, but I was writing full-length novels (though after pulling the notebooks out of the purgatory they should return, they were just barely novellas) of Disney fan-fic stories that included my friends and I. They were bad. If compared to Tina Belcher’s friend fic, they would be buried alive and refuse to come back as a zombie for her stories.  Continue reading Best Geeky Finds – Get Mortified

Playing Around – Behind the Witcher

It’s been 10 years since The Witcher video game was released. It’s an RPG (based on a series of novels by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski) set in a medieval world. The main character is, not surprisingly, a Witcher, which is a monster hunter with supernatural powers. It’s been popular enough to not only get high ratings, but also two follow-up games. And now, on its tenth anniversary, there’s a documentary.  Continue reading Playing Around – Behind the Witcher

Best Geeky Finds – Pizza Power!

Two weeks ago was Memorial Day weekend. Whenever holidays like these fall on a Monday or a weekend when the market is open, I go shopping to the Hartville Flea Market (in northeast Ohio). I often do not have a specific goal in mind while shopping, but sometimes I start the day off seeing one unique item I had not thought about and spend the rest of the day searching for similar finds. On this day, my unique hunt became Ninja Turtles action toys.  Continue reading Best Geeky Finds – Pizza Power!

Best Geeky Finds – Batman & Bill

A couple months ago, not completely paying attention, I noticed the characters’ credit line in the closing credits of Gotham:

“Based on the characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger.”

I hadn’t thought much about this at first. Superman is famously created by Siegel & Schuster, so having two creators didn’t strike me as unusual until I picked up a Batman book from the ‘90s and realized that Bob Kane had been the only creator credited in most books.  Continue reading Best Geeky Finds – Batman & Bill

Best Geeky Finds – The Death of Superman

Blog-BGFImagine a world where the tale of the Man of Steel is dark. Not like destroying-Metropolis-to-take-down-Zod dark, but Batman dark. A world where Nicholas Cage is Superman (not wanting to be or thinks he is Superman, which I think Cage might already believe, but actual is playing him). Where Chris Rock is Jimmy Olsen. A Pre-“Superman Returns” film with Kevin Spacey as a Lex Luthor/Brainiac hybrid. What kind of Superman movie would this be? One directed by Tim Burton.
