Blog-MDM Over the weekend I finally had a chance to watch Stranger Things, the latest Netflix show (of course I binged it!). Set in the 80s, it’s a scifi/horror that actually feels like it was produced in the 80s. From the pop songs and instrumentals of the soundtrack, to the way it was shot and how the story unfolds… it’s all just very 80s. But that’s a fantastic thing! Best Geeky Finds – Rebooting the House

Blog-BGFLast weekend I binge watched Fuller House, the reboot of the 1980’s family sitcom, Full House. The previews teased a brand new show about the older 2 girls of the Tanner family, DJ and Stephanie. It could have been a fresh start and an original Netflix show. Irregular’s Intel – That Thing About Iron Fist

IrregularIntelEarlier this week my wife shared with me an article about the sensitive issues surrounding the casting of Danny Rand, Iron Fist in the upcoming Netflix series of the same name. In the article, written by Kwame Opam and posted on theverge.com, the author points out how, in his current depiction, the character is a white male whose behavior is steeped in Asian tradition. Although it is a mix of Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Tibetan and several other Asian cultures, the author points out how it can be viewed as appropriative. Especially with the way Marvel has been working towards showing more diversity in the cinematic and comic universes, this could be a touchy subject.
