V-Yellow’s Comic Box – Female Superheros

VernComicI wonder how many female character leads we’ll see in DC and Marvel films. I know that Warner Bothers will begin filming the first live action Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot this month. While Marvel studios are working on a Captain Marvel movie in 2018. I will include the upcoming Supergirl series on CBS staring Melissa Benoist and Jessica Jones series on Netflix starring Krysten Ritter, but that’s all we’ve seen or heard from as far as a standalone superhero movie in recent years. Yes, Scarlett Johanson has been a big part of Marvel’s cinematic universe but she hasn’t been in her own movie. Continue reading V-Yellow’s Comic Box – Female Superheros

V-Yellow’s Comic Box – iZombie Anyone?

VernComicIs anybody else excited for the new season of iZombie? I know I am. With the lineup up of DC television shows this fall fans will never have a dull moment – The Flash, Arrow, Supergirl, Gotham, and DC Vertigo’s iZombie. I’m pretty sure we’ll do some podcast at some point about all of these shows but for now I just wanted to discuss my interest in iZombie. Continue reading V-Yellow’s Comic Box – iZombie Anyone?

V-Yellow’s Comic Box – Video Game Comics

VernComicI think video games should have more of a push to have their stand alone comic book series. I am aware that there are comic books with video games titles but those only seem to happen when companies want to tell a prequel story about an up and coming video game that is going to be released soon. The only comic series that comes to mind that is still going strong with the stories is the Injustice: Gods Among Us comic series. I would love to read more ongoing comic books about some characters from Mass Effect, Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Last of Us, Red Dead Redemption, etc. I think these game companies should make a deal with Marvel, DC or Dark Horse, just for example. Anyone really, I just would like to go to a comic shop and see a new comic with a video game title on it. Continue reading V-Yellow’s Comic Box – Video Game Comics

V-Yellow’s Comic Box – Thomas “Hush” Elliot

VernComicWho else is a fan of Dr. Thomas “Tommy” Elliot A.K.A. Hush? One of my favorite story arcs is the Batman: Hush by Jeph Loeb, Jim Lee and Scott Williams. The thing I loved about this villain was he just isn’t your normal psychopath that comes out of Arkham Asylum or running the streets of Gotham; this was a very close childhood friend of Bruce Wayne. He was even named after Bruce’s late father Thomas Wayne. Elliot even wanted to become a doctor just like Thomas Wayne. Before Bruce saw his parents’ demise on that dark terrible night in Crime Alley, Tommy had lost only one of his parents in a car accident. He would have lost both of them if it wasn’t for Bruce’s father saving his mother’s life. But ever since Bruce’s father saved Tommy’s mother he had a vendetta against the Waynes. The reason why he hates Bruce so bad is because he had planned for his parents to die in that fatal car accident. He cut the brakes to the car; as a young boy he had already had evil thoughts and wanted to murder people. He wanted to inherit their wealth so he could be an orphan and live his life the way he intended for it to be. Since then Tommy has been planning on a way to get back at his old friend.

V-Yellow’s Comic Box – Introductions

VernComicHello my name is Vernon but most people know me as V-Yellow. I have a deep interest in comic books, many would call me a comic book nerd and I take pride in that. I am a collector of comic books and toys. I try to get my hand on anything comic book related, from toys, posters, hats and shoes. I’ve had a passion for this stuff since I was a kid. Even though I’m a 90’s baby I was raised on the Super Friends, the Tim Burton Batman, Scooby-Doo, Spider-man and his Amazing Friends, Swamp Thing, the Christopher Reeves Superman films and The Addams Family. My mother liked to watch cartoons and especially if they were superheroes, so she would record them on VHS and re-watch them. Once I was born she would allow me to watch them with her. So I always loved the old school style of cartoons and movies that a lot of my friends to this day may think are too old or corny but it’s something about them I can’t get enough of. But since I am a 90’s kid my favorite shows to watch were Batman the Animated series and Spider-Man the Animated series. Once I reached the 6th grade I stated looking up the heroes and finding out where they came from. That’s when I started collecting comics, and I’ve been doing it ever since.
