Playing Around – You Remind Me of the Babe

If you are a fan of 1980s fantasy films, you undoubtedly know Labyrinth. Jim Henson’s musical fantasy adventure starred David Bowie as the Goblin King and Jennifer Connelly as a girl trying to rescue her baby brother. It gained a cult following, had a sequel in comic book form and there has been talk over the past couple of years of doing a sequel/spin-off movie. And for those into gaming, there is also a tabletop version of the story.  Continue reading Playing Around – You Remind Me of the Babe

Playing Around – An Epic Adventure

December 2015, we treated ourselves to a new gaming system. We had not had anything new since the Wii, so it was high time for an upgrade. We bounced between the Xbox One and PS4. The plot isn’t too detailed, but basically there’s a prophecy that must be fulfilled and you’re the one to do it. Oh, and there are plenty of monsters and magic thrown in along the way. And now, you can attempt to fulfill that prophecy with friends in a tabletop version.  Continue reading Playing Around – Video Game to Tabletop

Playing Around – All in the Reflexes

Last summer, in our GenCon coverage (way back in Issue 67), we shared news of the co-op deck-building game Legendary: Big Trouble in Little China. It was big news at the time because there wasn’t any other game set in that universe – until now. For those who lean more towards playing board games (or if you just can’t get enough of ol’ Jack Burton), Big Trouble in Little China: The Game is currently in development.  Continue reading Playing Around – All in the Reflexes
