I think that for many of us geeks, there are certain locations that hold a special place in our hearts. Maybe the offices of Marvel, DC, Dark Horse, or any other comic company comes to mind. Maybe it is the original home of Gary Gygax, or the garage where Apple Computers got it’s start. For me, it is in Red Bank, New Jersey, the home of Jay and Silent Bob’s Secret Stash. Many years ago, Dawn and I planned a crazy roadtrip up to Red Bank, just to say we were there. But, life happens, am I right? You blink and suddenly a few years is a few more, but life hands you an opportunity. So you take it… and you go… with gusto!

This is not just a show place for Kevin Smith’s swag – oh no! True you can buy the Fat Man hockey jersey and Clerks: The Animated Series DVD. But this is a legit comic shop and I was impressed by how incredibly fair the prices were on back issues! But, I digress… let’s take it back to when we pull up to the shop… with a parking spot right across the street! Dawn and I get out, stretch after the three hour drive, and commence to taking pics of the outside of the shop. At this point, a woman sitting in front of the shop gets up, begins to cross the street and asks if we’d be interested in being background shoppers for an episode of Comic Book Men. We say “Sure” because who would turn that down?! We sign the releases, Dawn is given a plain tee shirt to cover what she’s wearing… because she gets facetime. I’m ok, because my tee brings the gunshow to town!

At any rate, for about an hour we browse and read comics while they film. By the time it is all over, I have my eye on 6 0r 7 back issues and Dawn is looking at a tee shirt. Everyone was super nice and I’d definitely recommend anyone in the area go check them out… or, if you feel so inclined, take a roadtrip and when you’re done at the shop, head down to Yestercades to get your classic gaming on! Jay and Silent Bob’s did not disappoint in the least!!
