Since Love Actually hit the movie screens, only to be showing repeatedly on cable television every holiday season for no perceptible reason, the concept of interconnected stories that have little to do with each other has been related to Christmas. Even television shows like Glee have explained away the concept as a “Love Actually episode.” So when you have a movie called A Christmas Horror Story, it’s not surprising that the movie is set up with unrelated interconnected stories. Best Geeky Finds – How About Some Ice Cream?
Have you ever wanted to see a film where Santa gets stuck on the beach and thoroughly hates it? What about a Christmas movie that has absolutely nothing to do with Christmas? If you take all this, throw in a terrifying Easter bunny, a defunct amusement park, and a plethora of random animals, and you have Santa and the Ice Cream Bunny. In 1972, the movie was filmed at Pirate’s World, a Florida amusement park that was built to compete with Walt Disney World. The theme park ultimately could not compete with the mouse, and was shut down a year later. Personally, I believe it was this movie that did it in. Irregular’s Intel – Why Die Hard is the Greatest Christmas Movie, Ever!
On this day many of us have watched all or part of one or many Christmas movies. These all have in common the presence of Santa Claus, the baby Jesus, the Christmas Spirit, gifts, trees, vacations, family, shopping and all of the other tropes in varying degrees. But, geeksters, there is one that rises above the fray. This tale does not involve shopping, Santa, lost Christmas Spirit, the baby Jesus, or any of the other stuff I have mentioned. This movie involves one man searching for redemption in the eyes of his wife and one man seeking forgiveness in himself and both will find what they are seeking at Nakatomi Plaza.
