The Gamer Geek Blog – Leveling Up and Moving On

GamerGeekHey Geeksters!

Well this was a crazy last few days in the world of gaming. Let’s start off with Konami. For months every rumor under the sun has surfaced about Kojima and Konami, and finally we know that Hideo Kojima has left Konami to start his own studio with Sony. The last I heard of the whole thing with Kojima was that he was “on vacation,” which was a lie, but hey at least he has finally moved on, to let Konami burn on its own.

Well Destiny finally added transactions and my goodness do the prices range: from $10-$30. These transaction aren’t just comedic – they give you level ups which is technically “pay to win” which can be unfair, but then it becomes a matter of skill so yeah. If you are new to destiny you can buy the game for $60 then buy the $30 level pack and have a max level character for $90.

Someone over at Nintendo of Europe thought it would be a good idea to put Napster on the WiiU so yeah… Other fun Nintendo things: Pokken Fighters will be released with a special dedicated arcade controller, which is kind of dumb to me. Well the layout of the controller is dumb. I wish they did what Nintendo did with the Tatsunoko vs Capcom game and release a special fight stick with a collector’s edition.

For everyone fretting that Akuma isn’t going to be Street Fighter 5 fear not! I have found him: he’s going to be Tekken 7.

And to wrap up all the interesting things that happened this and last week, I’ll close with the final smash announcement giving us Cloud on Tuesday with the midgar stage, with summons and 8 player mode. Along with Cloud we got the reveal of the last two fighters for smash: Corrin, from Fire Emblem Fates (which hasn’t come to America yet, just need to wait until February then pay $80 for three games), will be a sword user with a dragon form and attacks, which is a first for smash; and the winner of the smash ballot, Bayonetta, which was but wasn’t a surprise, she is basically a better version of Zero Suit Samus with combos of a “real” fighting game. But hey a rooster of 58 fighter is a big deal for smash and they will be getting my money in February if they do come out on time.
