She Geek Critique – Friendly Neighborhood Sidekick

If you’ve ever wondered about the importance of sidekicks, watch Spider-Man: Homecoming. Spidey has never had what would be traditionally considered a sidekick, but he has always had a close friend or two who basically take that role. In Homecoming, that’s his buddy Ned, who is pretty much just as unpopular a teenager as Peter Parker – so, obviously, they’re a great fit. Miss Dawn’s Musings – Such an Animal

Blog-MissDawnsMusingsAs a geek and an animal lover, I’ve always loved seeing the sidekick pets on page and screen. Now I’m not talking about a dog or cat who happens to just be around and has no part in the story except for a brief mention. Nor am I referring to the anthropomorphic talking animals that are partners to the main characters. I mean the true sidekick pets, the ones that provide an assist as a real sidekick but also live with the heroes, at least part of the time, and have a connection to them.
