I was first introduced to the X-Files by The Simpsons. The episode was called “The Springfield Files” and involved Mulder and Scully investigating an alien siting in Springfield. The alien turned out to be Mr. Burns hopped up on pain killers and experimental drugs to improve his age and bones which made him glow. When I was a kid I didn’t understand the in-jokes being made because I had never seen the X-Files. This was the late 90s and I wasn’t a fan of horror. Continue reading
Over the past year or so I have heard people answer the question “What does it mean to be a geek?” with “It means that you like or are really into something”. Now, on the surface, this answer is correct. It does mean that you’re really into whatever it is you do, but we have to be careful. In the age of the “tumblr geek” we’re starting to see people who like the t-shirts and the movies, but have never opened a comic, touched a d20, or read a scientific article for pleasure in their entire life. They’re loving the swag and the trappings that come with The Age of the Geek, but have never dealt with the struggle. Now, I know that this is going to sound a little “us vs them”, but I’m just stating facts. Continue reading
Other than Sega saying they are going to release they their 3D Classics, for the 3DS in April not a whole lot has happened, so this gives me a free week to talk about something that’s been bothering me for a little while.
Downloadable Content (DLC) and season passes, why are these things so instrumental to the gaming industry? Continue reading
This week we are joined by a friend of our blogger Kameron. Continue reading
Tonight we are recording the one year anniversary episode of Geek Watch One. Taking a page from Kylan (or a screen, considering it was a blog post – check Irregular’s Intel from Friday), I was thinking about what’s happened over the course of the year. Lots of episodes (aka issues), networks, connections, cons… and “free time” becoming a thing of the past. Continue reading
Clary Fray is a normal teenager. She spends her days drawing and hanging out with her best friend, Simon. Having died when she was young, Clary doesn’t know anything about her father or any of her family’s past. When she asks her mother, Jocelyn, or her uncle, Luke, they feign ignorance or change the subject. Then one night she witnesses a murder at a night club which only she can see. To make matters worse, not only does the murderer, Jace, start following her around, but she receives a phone call from her mother as she is being attacked and kidnapped. Continue reading
Life is funny. We make our little plans and we just know where our lives are going to lead us. Our road maps are infallible, right? Wrong!! If someone told me 12 months ago that I’d be sitting here, about to celebrate the One Year Anniversary of Geek Watch One, writing a blog post for the website, while mentally preparing for the second show I am on, Mighty Marvel Geeks, I’d say that they were crazy! But, as I reflect on the past 12 months, oh what a journey it has been! Continue reading
So school started for me this week, and there was almost no blog this week. But as far as news goes role playing fans should be ecstatic…well kinda. Continue reading
I had a super short right to the point interview sent to me by Casey. So let’s see what his geek is.
C: My name is Casey. Continue reading
So my original plan for this week’s blog had to get scraped. I was going to do a review on the Batman/ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles issue #2 but when I went to the comic store by my house they were sold out, so I had to order it from Amazon and it’s not here yet. So instead this week I’m just going to go over what’s been buzzing on the internet with today’s recent comic book news. Continue reading
