Irregular’s Intel – Now That We’ve Met Luke Cage and Iron Fist

Luke Cage and Danny Rand have both stepped up to the plate and had their series on Netflix. Now the wait is on for Marvel’s The Defenders. That’s all well and good, but the bigger question is, are we ready for a live action Heroes for Hire? I’d say, no. Danny and Luke need to sort out their personal stuff before we get to have Power Man and Iron Fist.  Continue reading Irregular’s Intel – Now That We’ve Met Luke Cage and Iron Fist

Irregular’s Intel – Too Old for Comics!?

When I was a kid I used to read comics from cover to cover. I still do now, but the difference is back then almost all comics had a letters section in the back. This was where the readers would sound off about the previous issue, or two or three issues ago, depending on the book. Anyway, I remember that a lot of the readers were military men. They would talk about the quality of the art and the impact of the story arc and how the color was off on this panel on that page, but it was overall a good issue. That made an impression on me for two reasons. My Pop and two of my uncles were in the armed forces, so it meant that people like them were reading comics – in fact, my Pop actually was at the time. Secondly, it meant that grown men were reading comics. This practically blew my mind. There were letters from other people who may or may not have been adults, but I knew that if they posted a military address, they were grown-ups. This told me that I might never be too old for comics!  Continue reading Irregular’s Intel – Too Old for Comics!?

Irregular’s Intel – International Women’s Day and Living in my Bubble

In the whole of my existence, I have related to the women in my life in as many ways as considered humanly possible. In my short 46 years on this earth I have developed a deep respect for women because of my life experience. My sister and I were raised by my mom. As I grew up, I watched this amazing woman take on the role of Mother, Father, breadwinner and any other that may have been required of her on a daily basis. I never related to the notion of “traditional” gender roles. The same could be said for all of the women in my life. I have always been surrounded by strong women, but even then, I will never be able to truly appreciate what that means.  Continue reading Irregular’s Intel – International Women’s Day and Living in my Bubble

Irregular’s Intel – Is Captain America Really Lawful Good?

First off, I’m not even talking about the current storyline in Captain America: Steve Rogers or what is the basis for Secret Empire. I am looking at the character based on the whole of his history. Now, when you look up Lawful Good, the definition mentions things like morality and honor and duty and hating to allow lawbreakers go unpunished. But when you look at Chaotic Good, you see things like free thinker, follows his/her conscience, doesn’t care what society thinks. Ok, we have a few characteristics of each alignment and this isn’t our first rodeo – we know what the alignments stand for and what this is all about.  Continue reading Irregular’s Intel – Is Captain America Really Lawful Good?

Irregular’s Intel – Getting My Weekends Back

Like many people, I currently work a shift that has me working Saturdays. I thought that I’d get used to it, but, 15 months later, I have not! It completely throws me off, especially considering that a lot of things Geek Watch One does, and geeky events in general, are on the weekend. So, I had an opportunity come my way and I had to take it and (drum roll)… I get my weekends back!  Continue reading Irregular’s Intel – Getting My Weekends Back
