I first became interested in comics as a child, not by reading about superheroes or adventure stories, but through ham radio. Every year I would go backstage at the All-American Soap Box Derby in Akron with my dad as he radioed in each driver and coordinated races. Comics Cosmos – Checking The Pulse
The Pulse was a comic following Jessica Jones and her time at “The Pulse”, a weekly section of the Daily Bugle newspaper. There are a lot of familiar characters here, including reporter Ben Urich, publisher J. Jonah Jameson and a load of superheroes including, of course, Luke Cage. If you’re looking for a female protagonist who’s not a typical hero, enjoy the paranormal side of things and like a touch of Western then Wynonna Earp may be the show for you. A descendant of Wyatt Earp, Wynonna returns to her hometown (appropriately named Purgatory) to protect it from demons, as her great grandfather once did. Best Geeky Finds – A Matter for the Eighth Doctor
Aside from maybe 4, the Eighth Doctor, Paul McGann, is my favorite regeneration of the Doctor. While he was not seen for long in the TV movie, his character has lived on in Big Finish’s audio dramas, proving that he should have been the first Doctor to return when the series was rebooted. Unfortunately, he did not come back to television (other than the short 50th anniversary clip), but along with the audio dramas, Titan Comics has published a volume of comics encompassing his short run in comic form as well.
