Halloween 1988. Michael Myers is back yet again for another Halloween. Various sitcoms are not having specific Halloween episodes (believe me I looked – it was quite annoying for this year). Irregular’s Intel – In Praise of Independents
In the late 80s there was this terrible TV show based on an awesome comic, Jon Sable, Freelance. The TV show was called Sable and it was largely forgettable, but it did three things for me:
- Introduced me to an awesome character that I still admire to this very day
- Introduced me to the awesome that is Mike Grell (I didn’t get introduced to Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters until a few years later)
- Introduced me to my first independent comic company “First Comics”

Comics Cosmos – A Spanner in Time
Time travel is a popular basis for a plot these days. You don’t often see it in comics, though, so that makes Time Spanners a refreshing change. This is an indie comic out of northeast Ohio, by John Vourlis, Jaime Lombardo and Brendan Kelly, funded via IndieGoGo, that now has its first issue available.
