Irregular’s Intel – Mixed Messages

The other night I was watching a repeat of The New Adventures of Wonder Woman and something happened on the show that just did not sit well with me. Diana was tasked with the mission of finding three crystals used in a telescope, but could be used to make a laser. The crystals were hidden in a box that ended up at a science fiction convention. Best Geeky Finds – Wonder Woman!

There was certainly a lot wrong about Batman v. Superman – the plot, introduction of characters, the climax. The one thing that was in no way wrong (okay, maybe a few tiny exceptions) though was Wonder Woman. This introduction of the character said immediately that she was badass, didn’t care about anybody’s preconceived ideas, and she had been fighting for a long time to protect those she loved. She Geek Critique – Getting It Right

As I have mentioned before, movie casting is sometimes a big deal to me. This is especially in regard to geek properties, most especially comic book movies where the characters need to have a rather specific look. Regardless of abilities, I think it’s important to capture that look to truly capture the character. But even when the casting is not quite right, there can be moments in a movie when the acting, story and visuals come together so well that they get the character right.
