bestgeekyfindsWhen I’m on the road or shopping during the month on December, I always seem to be in the Christmas spirit. This could be due to the very fact that I’m not on the road or in stores, but I attribute this more to the availability of holiday music and TV specials available at the click of a button. A couple weeks ago I told everybody about Betamaxmas, a wonderful website that streams clips of classic 80’s and 90s holiday shows. Sure, there’s Star Wars and Charlie Brown, but I thought I would concentrate on some of the best geeky holiday classics that many people may not think about when binging on holiday cheer. IrregularIntelLet’s face it, we’ve all been there. There’s that family member who thinks that they “get it”. You like your comic books and your Trek Wars with the X-wing Enterprise captained by Mal Solo (yeah, I cringed as I wrote that). They watch Big Bang Theory and know what the nerds are into these days. So, Christmas Day comes around and you, having firmly made it known that you are a Marvel and Star Trek fan, have to put on the brave face when you get a Batman travel mug and a Rebel Alliance portfolio. The intent is well meaning, true, but it stings a little thinking about how something so important to you gets so easily missed. Miss Dawn’s Musings – Let the Games Begin

Blog-MissDawnsMusingsI am not now, nor will I ever be, a gamer geek. It’s just not where my interests or fandoms lie. This applies to video games and tabletop. It’s not that I refuse to play or don’t enjoy it when I do, but I have so many other things I’m interested in I just don’t have the time to devote to gaming. If I’m hanging out with someone and they ask if I want to play a board game or card game or video game, I’ll usually say yes because we’re hanging out anyway and it’s something fun to do. But if they ask me what I want to play, my usual reply is “whatever you like” or “anything is fine” because I really don’t have much of a preference.
