Playing Around – Wubba Lubba Dub Dub!

Are you a fan of Rick and Morty who’s just biding time waiting for the new season to start? Have you watched all the episodes four or five times (or more) already? Comics Cosmos – Pray for Me, Preacher

About a year ago Preacher, a tv series based on the Vertigo comic book by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, made its debut. It follows far-from-holy preacher Jesse Custer in a very small town in Texas and the lives of the often horrible people who live there. The first season of the show was actually a prequel to the comics, so even fans were treated to the unexpected every week.  Continue reading Comics Cosmos – Pray for Me, Preacher

Best Geeky Finds – Batman & Bill

A couple months ago, not completely paying attention, I noticed the characters’ credit line in the closing credits of Gotham:

“Based on the characters created by Bob Kane with Bill Finger.”

I hadn’t thought much about this at first. Superman is famously created by Siegel & Schuster, so having two creators didn’t strike me as unusual until I picked up a Batman book from the ‘90s and realized that Bob Kane had been the only creator credited in most books.  Continue reading Best Geeky Finds – Batman & Bill

Irregular’s Intel – Storytime with Uncle Kylan

Back in the day, cop shows used to market themselves to kids with plastic “detective sets” complete with a gun, handcuffs and a shiny badge. One such show to do this was Starsky and Hutch. Now, S.W.A.T.  was another show to market itself in a similar way, but they took it up a notch or two (that’s for another Storytime).  At any rate, I loved Starsky and Hutch and often saw a kindred spirit in the high strung Detective David Michael Starsky. In this set there was a gun similar to the .45 my favorite of the duo carried, handcuffs, a badge AND a copy of the Miranda Rights that every good cop quoted to every criminal that they brought to justice. I read that thing until I had it committed to memory flawlessly!  Continue reading Irregular’s Intel – Storytime with Uncle Kylan

Playing Around – You Remind Me of the Babe

If you are a fan of 1980s fantasy films, you undoubtedly know Labyrinth. Jim Henson’s musical fantasy adventure starred David Bowie as the Goblin King and Jennifer Connelly as a girl trying to rescue her baby brother. It gained a cult following, had a sequel in comic book form and there has been talk over the past couple of years of doing a sequel/spin-off movie. And for those into gaming, there is also a tabletop version of the story.  Continue reading Playing Around – You Remind Me of the Babe
