There are some who are so devoted to one publisher or the other that they cannot imagine the very thought of owning any piece of merch produced by the other, let alone watch any shows or movies… and forget about touching a comic! Now, if you have listened to Geek Watch One for any amount of time, you already know that I am a Marvel Man and Ken is team DC. I am certain that you have heard our arguments supporting each of our stances on this matter. But I have yet to give a full explanation on the matter. V-Yellow’s Comic Box – Female Superheros

VernComicI wonder how many female character leads we’ll see in DC and Marvel films. I know that Warner Bothers will begin filming the first live action Wonder Woman movie starring Gal Gadot this month. While Marvel studios are working on a Captain Marvel movie in 2018. I will include the upcoming Supergirl series on CBS staring Melissa Benoist and Jessica Jones series on Netflix starring Krysten Ritter, but that’s all we’ve seen or heard from as far as a standalone superhero movie in recent years. Miss Dawn’s Musings – Female Hero Revolution

Is there a female hero revolution in the works? Over the past few years, “strong female character” has become a desired label on tv shows, in movies and in books. It seems now that it’s finally becoming commonplace and rarely needs to be said. Yet there is still the need for the Bectal test (and, even better, the sexy lamp test, thanks to Kelly Sue DeConnick) and progress is slow. But I think it’s getting somewhere and partly that’s due to an increased female fan base (because women can be geeks too!) and a more open-minded media industry.
